Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor?

Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor?

Spirituality is so personal, isn’t it? Here at Magnolia Manor, our deep Methodist roots serve as the foundation for who we are as a non-profit, senior living organization. Our faith-based tradition guides us every day as we strive to help every resident live their most fulfilling life. Does this mean we serve only Methodists?

Heck, no! You needn’t be a Methodist when you arrive, and there is certainly no pressure on you to become one. In fact, the majority of our residents are not Methodist.

Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor? We count every resident as a blessing

For some seniors, the thought of moving to a faith-based community can bring extra comfort and peace of mind. For others, faith may not be a factor at all in choosing a senior living community. When we meet with prospective new residents here at Magnolia Manor, we often discuss our faith tradition because we want everyone to know that they are welcome to join us.

As an organization and within each campus family, we are committed to meeting the spiritual needs of our residents, regardless of faith. Whether you are Methodist, Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Jewish, or if you do not have a formal faith at all, we offer an open invitation to explore your spirituality in whatever ways are most comfortable for you.

Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor? We thrive on diversity!

We are so proud that our residents -- and staff -- come from many different backgrounds. That makes our communities more interesting and gives us more things to share with one another.

We believe that every senior can thrive when they are as happy and healthy as possible, in body, mind and spirit. Whatever it means to you, and how you prefer to practice your faith, we’re here to help. That’s one reason life at all nine of our campuses reflects our commitment to our spiritual heritage.

Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor?Serving your spiritual needs starts on Day 1

Moving into senior living is a monumental life change, so it’s important to us that we provide you with resources to help you process and adjust to life at Magnolia Manor. When you move in, one of the first people you’ll meet is the Chaplain who serves your community. All nine of our campuses have a dedicated, caring Chaplain. He or she is not there to replace your own minister, priest or rabbi but to help meet the spiritual needs of every resident, regardless of faith.

Do I Have to be Methodist to Live at Magnolia Manor? That starts by taking time to understand what is most important to you. Then, they can help you connect with activities that are most meaningful to you. For example:

  • Finding a new church. Your Magnolia Manor campus may be in a new town with unfamiliar churches. Our campus Chaplains have relationships with churches in the area, so they can help you connect with a nearby local congregation to nurture your faith journey.
  • Offering weekly (or more frequent) worship services -- our ecumenical services welcome all to come and celebrate together. Several of our campuses have an on-site chapel, but all provide space for worship and other gatherings.
  • Understanding that details matter – if you are a Catholic, it is important to receive communion from a Catholic priest.
  • Offering Bible study and other faith-based activities throughout the week.
  • Offering individual pastoral care to help sustain, nurture, and heal. One Jewish lady who lived with us for several years often commented on how much she looked forward to her one-on-one conversations with the campus Chaplain.
  • Our commitment is to provide every resident a quality lifestyle that meets their physical, spiritual, social and mental needs.

Magnolia Manor is here to meet your needs

You don’t have to practice any religion at all to experience the social and psychological benefits of our faith- and family-oriented atmosphere. The foundation may be our Methodist heritage, but treating each other with love and caring is how we approach everything we do to nurture our residents’ minds and bodies as well as their spirit.

There are nine Magnolia Manor campuses across southern Georgia, each one uniquely different but every one with a caring staff dedicated to serving their residents. Seniors like you, whatever your faith. Please contact us online or call us at 855-540-LIFE (5433) and a member of our team will be happy to answer any questions and schedule a tour.
